Family During The Holidays
The holidays are my favorite time of year. For me, it’s a time to be grateful, reflect on your good fortunes, and celebrate the joys in your life.
The other day at Tart, I was talking to a guest, and he told me the holidays are a lonely time for him because his family lives far away. He said he likes eating at Tart because he feels welcomed, like he’s at home. He always orders the Southern Fried Chicken with a side of Truffle Mac and Cheese because the Southern style of cooking reminds him of his cihldhood and the happy memories he had growing up in Mississippi.
The conversation I had with him made me feel proud that my family is an hour’s plane ride away. I was really present to the feeling of gratitude for the people in my life, and I’m so excited to go home for Christmas and share it with my mom and brother. I would not be where I am today without them. The holidays are so precious to me because they present another opportunity to show the people I love that I appreciate them.
