Get Lit at TART

When I was just a wee newbie to La La Land, my bags from Northern
California freshly unpacked, I knew next to nothing about the area. I
had never even visited LA until I took a short trip to look for a
place to live, staying in a cheap motel room (I should’ve stayed at
The Farmer’s Daughter!). A week later I was all moved in to a new
apartment in a foreign land. LA is home to some of the best
entertainment and nightlife in the world, including live top-notch
theater, swanky A-lister clubs, grand art openings, and of course,
dining. People (well, most people) have to eat 3 times a day, 7 days a
week, 365 days a year (take out a couple weeks for those cleansing
fasts that are so in these days). Los Angeles will give you any kind
of food you want, any way you want it, at any time, day or night. At
this point you, the reader, are inevitably wondering why, when given
the opportunity to work at any dining establishment in the entirety of
the LA area, I chose to grace TART Restaurant with my mind-blowing,
ninja-like serving skills. The answer, initially at least, is this:
LIGHT. Driving down Fairfax almost daily, TART’s big, bright,
beautiful, neon pink sign drew me in. The sparkling candles caught my
eye through the windows at night, beckoning flirtatiously to passersby
to come in and stay a while. Fastforward to my being hired as an
official TART employee (after littering the then manager’s desk and
voicemail with resumes and desperate messages), and I will still say
this: nevermind the exceptional southern/California fusion cuisine,
nevermind the impecable cleanliness and adorableness of the interior
and patio, nevermind the friendly, knowledgable employees. Come in to
TART for the magic of candlelight dancing across your face as you take
a luxurious breath and know that you’re home.
