TART: The Next Generation

These are a few of my favorite things…

When it comes to Tart, there are so many aspects to discuss that it’s difficult to focus on one particular aspect without finding yourself going off on a tangent. I struggle with this concept in my everyday life so I’ve decided to briefly touch on a few of my favorites.

1. Without a doubt, the staff. I moved here from New York last Fall and I’m so thankful that I stumbled upon this diverse group. I truly enjoy each and every person I work with, a rare experience these days. While everyone is unique to their interests outside of work they are all unified by their friendliness and sense of community. I can honestly say I have fun when I go to work, a fact proved by my ever present laughter. But on top of that, being the new kid on the block, everyone continues to be supportive and helpful whenever I’m having trouble or if I find myself overwhelmed both inside and outside of work.

2. The Banana Foster pancakes. They are amazing! If you haven’t tried them, you absolutely should. One bite and I promise you will understand.

3. Our new dessert menu. Jamie is one of the sweetest people and she is from the south, so it should be no surprise that her new dessert menu is delectable. And yet, when I taste the Chocolate Almond Bread Pudding, or one of her Monster Cookie Sundae’s I’m a bit stunned at how delicious they are. I have an insatiable sweet tooth and she has managed to satisfy it.

4. Our cocktail menu is very nice. The Stramosas, a mix of our strawberry lemonade and champagne, are an excellent addition to any brunch. And we have great beer. When I left New York I thought I was saying goodbye to Rogue, but alas, we carry it!

If you haven’t come in yet, or if its been a while, make the trip. It’s worth it!!

TART: The Next Generation

There’s a lot going on at Tart this month, and I’m proud to be a part of it. For starters, we’ve got brunch going seven days a week now. Anyone who’s been to our restaurant knows how good the breakfast is, and now they won’t have to roll out of bed before noon just to get it.

Then we have our new desert menu, courtesy of our new pastry chef Jamie. She and head chef Lauren are whipping up some pretty interesting creations in the kitchen there, like cookies and a small milkshake, creme brulee cake (a Tart original), and 7 UP cake with strawberries and whipped cream.

Lastly, we have a new drink on the cocktail menu: the Blueberry Kiss. The drink is a simple, yet effective combination of fresh blueberries, Blueberry Stoli, and lemon juice. It was created one day long ago for a regular who used to play a major character on HBO’s The Wire. Then it was reintroduced to a table of ladies out to lunch, who gave it its name. I’m sure the delicious libation isn’t available at our restaurant alone, but it feels like part of the family nevertheless.

So come to Tart, get breakfast at one in the afternoon, have a cocktail, and finish it off with one of our new deserts. You won’t be disappointed.
